Ethel & Mendel Harris made a rubbing of his monument before it cracked in two in 2001
(Jake & Bessie Klitzner arranged to have the monument replicated in granite the same year)
and had it translated by a Rabbi in Hazleton and reads as follows:

This pillar is witness and this monument is witness (Genesis 31:52)
Here lies buried
I will raise my voice in weeping and cry over my days
For my husband young in years and of many accomplishments
Perfect in his way and straight of deeds suddenly
The hope of his parents and children is lost
For without his permission death seized him
Born in the year 5632
And died Rosh Hodesh (1st day Of) Av in the year 5662
Our teacher and master Michal son of Avraham Zelig
The Kohen Kaplan
May his soul be bound up in the bond of life

In summary, Michal Kaplan, born Nov 1872,  died August 3, 1902  (Kohen Symbol)
