James McParlan, now suspected by the Molly Maguires, is shown en route from
Shenandoah to Girardville in sleigh driven by Frank McAndrew in 18976. One of
the men in the rear sleigh is under orders to kill the detective at the first opportunity.
 
Here the artist reconstructs the "Bully Bill" Thomas conspiracy trial at Pottsville
in August 1876. John Kehoe and eight others were convicted of plotting and carrying
out 1875 attack on Thomas. Man in witness chair is presumably McParlan.
