Bill
When I left Sinop in May 1965 I went by convoy. I was supposed fly to Ankara but when I arrived with my gear to get my ride to the airport I was told the plane was not flying that day and they did not know if it would be fixed by the next day or so.
The convoy was parked in the same area getting ready to leave. I was friendly with the MP who was on convoy duty heard the conversation and invited me to go with him via convoy. I got to ride up front instead of in the back of a deuce and a half.
I just found this photo which I took along the way. I guess we must have stopped for lunch. If you want you can add it to my page.

My room mate while at Sinop was an 058 named Bill Balusek. He sent me his scrap book from that time and I of course meant to do this sooner but between just being lazy and having a hard drive self destruct I have put this off to the last minute.... snip ...
Bill has started becoming more willing to talk about his army life( he spoke to Elder Green for the last DOOL) and I will have him talk to you about the captions. I am including a B+W picture of Bill that I took of him on crutches after our jeep accident. I visited him in Ankara when I was TDY to Det 27.The trip to town at the Chi Garden and with the shoe shine boys are with our other roomy Jim (I can't remember his last name)
... snip ...
Anyway at the Chi Garden Jim is on the left and I am on the right.
I don't remember the other guy at all.The Turkish man was Yassar who has now passed away. He worked in the airconditioning room at Ops . . . and I met him during my yeni detail. His wife was a great cook and Bill and I enjoyed some great meals there.
I will attach 1/2 the pix in this post and send the other half right after. I have saved these jpegs with photoshop 7's save for web feature. If they don't open let me know and I will send them again. I am on a professional photojournalist list and it seems they claim using this feature saves a lot of cross platform problems. Photo shop seven started adding additional info to their jpeg files which screws up PCs. Cross platforming is really going down hill these days. I am really sorry about sending this stuff so late. Maybe I will get my legs in gear and try to get to the next reunion where you can kick me a few times.

I was in the process of cleaning up some store rooms since I have sold my photo business and found my Minox negetives from Sinop. My old room mate from Sinop, Bill Balusek , who was an 058 also recently sent me two color pictures of me.
One is me playing with one of the pups out at the point site. His name was Ufuk and when the time come to kill the pups he was shot five times. Behind us is either Mark or Mike and one of the other pups.
Picture
The other shot is me showing up for guard mount. Picture
The rest of the pictures I took with my trusty little Minox.
The third pix is Lee Skinner drinking but I don't remember the guy in the doorway. Picture
This is a picture of Lee Skinner on the left and The man on the right's last name is Ramsey. Picture
The last shot in this group is Clayton Lohr. Picture

First pix is Lohr again PictureThis is a picture of Wally Jones throwing rocks after feeding the dogs Picture
The last picture I have no clue whatsoever. Picture

This was taken near the mess hall where we used to wait for our ride to the Point Site. As you can see even in 64 things were a hell of a lot better then when you were there. The guy in front of the truck in this pix is Ralph Vance. Picture
This is also taken around that area. On the left is James Farthing, a squid from NavDet who worked at the Point Site with us. On the right is Wayne E. Inman. Wayne and I were at Devens together. While in Sinop Wayne re-enlisted for Thailand with his trickmate Larry Jones. I started contacting all these ASA lists and sites trying to find Wayne. Larry unfortunately has passed away but Wayne is a long distance trucker living in Georgia. Picture
At the Point Site I think that is Mark in the lower far left. The man in the middle is Bob Ramage, he was from Galesburg, Illinois and that is Farthing again on the right. Picture
I am almost sure this was our radio maintenance man out in the DF antenna field whose name was Russel. Picture
I was promoted to spec 4 while on the hill and this was my trick, probably taken outside the mess hall. Left to right we have Lee Skinner, John Goodfellow and Dave Sawyer. Picture
This is inside the mess hall with Wayne Inman on the left and Jerry Wendt on the right. Picture
This is me TDY to Det 27 I have no recollection what I did there but they trucked Mark and Mike to Samsun while I was there. I always felt that was why I was sent since I gave them such a hard time when they shot the pups. Picture
This is Lee Skinner out at the Point Site. The entrance is on the left. Picture
Mike Graf who was a Monterey Mary. Picture was taken in beautiful downtown Sinop PictureThis is a picture of Wayne E. Inman and Mark over by the cliffs near the point site. It was taken by Larry Jones. Wayne and Mark
The guy in this picture giving me the finger was Wayne E. Inman. I went through the beginner morse course and then the DF course with him at Fort Devens and we both arrived in Sinop together. Wayne on Jeep hood
