NOTES 1-7
- I use the term, "Asian Turkey", rather than Asia Minor: for it was simply referred to as "Asia" in ancient times.
- The Ince Burun is used here to name the joint capes of the Ince Burun, the Bashyoz Burun, and the Hamsaros Burun. The Hamsaros Burun is more strictly the area of reference in our history when we refer to the Ince Burun.
- The Black Sea was referred to as "The Euxine" or "the Pontos" in ancient times.
- Ancient Colchis is approximately in the area of Soviet Georgia today.
- Miletus was a Greek city on the western seaboard of Asian Turkey.
- Phrygia's capitol was Gordium, which is a few miles southwest of present-day Ankara, Turkey,
- Crimea in ancient times was known as the kingdom of the Bosphorus.
