My name is Lola Lewis. PO1 still in the Navy with 2 more years to retirement. I was stationed in Sinop in 1985-1986 and 1989-1990.
It was a wonderful place. I wish it was still open.

This plaque in the Gun Deck Lounge lists all the Navy
personnel that were stationed at Sinop each year.

Nejati and Pat in 1986

Nejo was a Turk that was stationed there for about 9 years
or so. He was there the first time I was and still the second.
He was a really nice person. He and his family used to come
over to the barracks for dinners sometimes. I guess before
I got there the second time they made Nejati an E-10
special for him. He was sent to the Ankara because they
wouldn't let him stay in Sinop any longer. Then I was told he
was sent to the front to fight the Iraqi's and was killed.
Pat (I cannot remember his last name) was there in 1979
and again in 1985. I believe he was a linguist (CTI-Russian).
